QUEEN CONTEST RULES & NOMINATION

Candidates are now being accepted for this year’s Franklin County Fair Queen Contest.  A complete list of queen contest rules and a ballot can be obtained at the fair office, or the name and addressof a candidate can be called to the fair office at 641-456-2049. Nominations may also be emailed to fcfair35@yahoo.com

Nominations must be made or postmarked by May 1,2017. Contestants must be between the ages of 16 and 21 and may be nominated by organizations, schools, churches and individuals.  A county fair queen candidate must reside in the county, or if she lives in an adjoining county, the majority of her activities must be in Franklin County.Contestants must be active in at least one worthwhile organization in their community, such as a church group, girl scouts, 4-H, etc.

Eligibility is not limited to 4-H or FFA membership. The queen will be crowned at Coronation held on Thursday, July 20, at 5 p.m. at the 2017 fair which runs from July 19-23. She will reign at the fair and also represent Franklin County in the Iowa State Fair Queen competition in August.A crystal trophy will be presented to the queen sponsored by Mort’s Water Company. Other prizes for the queen at the county level include a $750 scholarship sponsored by First Bank Hampton, Franklin County Farm Bureau Insurance Agents, Franklin REC, Hauser Financial Group, and AmericInn in Hampton.

The Queen will also receive a tiara donated by Christensen Jewelry, one dozen long stemmed roses from Carol’s Flower Box, Hampton, $100 spending money for the state contest donated by Steven Pearson, CPA, Hampton, a gift certificate from Orange Possum, Hampton, a gift certificate from Studio 13, Hampton, and a portrait from Wolf Photography, Dumont.

The First Runner–up will be presented a gift card from Greenbelt Bank and Trust, Iowa Falls, and a gift from Christensen Jewelry, Hampton.

The Second Runner-up will receive a gift card from Greenbelt Bank and Trust and a gift from Christiansen Jewelry.

Miss Congeniality will be presented with a gift card from Greenbelt Bank and Trust and a gift from Christensen Jewelry.

A Miss Photogenic will be chosen and presented a portrait from Wolf Photography, Dumont and a gift from Christensen Jewelry.

 

Little Miss

LITTLE MISS CONTEST RULES & SIGN-UP

Something new to Franklin County Fair! Little Miss candidates are now being accepted for this year’s Franklin County Fair. A complete list of Little Miss contest rules and a ballot can be obtained at the fair office, or the name and address of a Little Miss candidate can be called to the fair office at 641-456- 2049. Candidates may also be emailed to fcfair35@yahoo.com and if mailed must be postmarked by July 7, 2017.

Contestants must be between the ages of 5-9 and must reside in Franklin County or an adjoining county only if the majority of her activities are in Franklin County. Judging criteria will consist of stage presence, personality, cuteness and answered questions. All contestants will ride in the parade on Tuesday July 18 th .

Little Miss will be crowned at 3pm just prior to Queen Coronation held on Thursday, July 20, at 5 p.m. at the 2017 fair which runs from July 19-23. Little Miss will walk and spend an afternoon with the Queen. Stay tuned our Facebook page for more details.

Little Miss will receive a tiara from the Franklin County Fair Board, a bracelet by Christensen Jewelry, as well as a bouquet of long-stemmed roses from Carol’s Flower Box, Hampton.
